In November 2017, the armored boat "BK-31" was raised from the bottom of the river in Volgograd. According to historical data, from July 1942 until October of that year, the vessel actively participated in the Battle of Stalingrad. Built on special order from the NKVD, "BK-31" was at that time a unique ship for the river fleet. After its raising, artifacts, remains of the crew, various caliber weapons, and a vast amount of ammunition were discovered on board. This last aspect indirectly confirms historians’ theories about the "special" missions that the sailors had to undertake.
